Queen of effortless cool

Alexa Chung with Burberry Prorsum patent leather bag turquoise

Now here’s a lesson on how to work this season’s COLOR trend the ‘Alexa way’: Minimize the effort and maximize the effect by lifting your winter staples (woolly sweater, black leather leggings, booties) with a pop colored shoulder bag. WOW! It’s so simple…

The maxi length

Bon, it’s official: I converted from being a total opponent of the maxi skirt length (don’t know how many times I prayed to my dearest coupine that I would never wear it…sorry for that!!). And now I TOTALLY love this trend.

How to best wear the maxi length?? Turn to  style princess Olivia herself…she is THE proof that even (or especially) petite girls can rock this trend!!

Follow Olivia’s lead and style the maxi skirt/dress with a belt, leather jacket or fur and a hat for a laidback, yet polished style!

Long hair don’t care

mk olsen_long hair

Not exactly sure why I’ve been constantly ‘advised’ to get a haircut by different people from my inner circle over the past few weeks… Okay, hair has been looking little trashy-messy here and there but it kind of fits my general mood right now. And -FYI, you long-hair-haters- it’s the new thing to wear your hair XL and a little loose. Here’s some proof I’d like to share with u:

The PARKA

The parka has been quite a fashion darling this fall/winter…and now, New York Fashion Week just proved that it is here to stay!! Both on the streets and on the runways…

Joseph Altuzzara showed my favourite interpretation of the look! His inspiration?? Old pictures of Kate Moss wearing a parka over her evening dresses…WE LOVE!

New York Fashion Week: The Essentials

3-sylvana-ward-durrett_nyfw essentials

New York Fashion Week has officially started! Feeling really inspired by Vogue.com‘s impressive line-up of ‘key players’ (including everyone from the designers to the models to the nightlife kings) sharing their fashion week essentials in a beautifully photographed story by The Coveteur.

I’m very much into a suede pump these days, and this hot-pink pair from Manolo Blahnik amps up any look—and they’re comfortable.’

Right now, I just wish/hope/pray I’ll be saying the exact same sentence one sweet day (except for my Chanel has to be tomato red! Ha ha!)

I always have Hermès leather gloves because not only do they keep my hands warm, they are also the best accessory ever—two birds, one stone.’

I needed something that could fit invitations, stacks of WWDs, a notebook, perhaps an iPad, and, quite possibly, an extra pair of shoes. Alber Elbaz to the rescue!’

This time of year, it really helps to have a nice, warm coat to run around the city and I recently found this amazing cashmere Céline in baby blue. It has big pockets that hold my cell phone.’

Rising star: Elle Fanning

Ever since starring in Sofia Coppola’s newest movie Somewhere ( a must-see for everyone who loves Sofia’s poetic and intellectual aesthetics), little Elle is one the rise! With her young age of twelve, she is not only stunning in the role as protagonist Cleo, but has also given proof of an excellent fashion sense. She even made it on the cover of the December/ January issue of favourite French fashion magazine Jalouse.

Elle was shot for a really cute editorial, which is not only beautifully styled, but above all refreshingly age-appropriate (which is most of the times quite tricky to achieve …)

Sorry for not updating more often, guys! But I am a working girl…;-)  So this post is dedicated to the place I spend most of my time at: le desk.

Work place I

What does your desk look like? It deserves to look just as pretty as your closet;-)!

Conference room

This would be my ideal conference room! A pleasant, inviting place where everyone can just pop in and join the conversation;-). Creativity should start here.

Have a good Friday everyone!

Accessorized with tan leather pieces like a polished Chloé bag or wrap-around bangles for a nice contrast. Works all the time!

Rough-looking – the ultimate in effortless cool. It admittedly takes a bit of courage to tear up your military shirt at the shoulders – for fashion pros only!

stockholm streetstyle military look

The cute way – with a cozy hooded parka, a matching full skirt and those Chloé booties from F/W 2009. Just gorgeous!

Camouflage – it’s the new thing!  Make sure you team this with another trendy pattern (like leo) and lots of chunky jewelry.

the new camouflage

Camouflage II - invest in a camouflage print silk dress or bag from Prada’s pre-fall collection. Fail-safe!

Will do an edit on which pieces are worth buying into but need to do a store-check first!

Promise to be back soon for more;-)!

Paris memories: Hotel Amour

Hotel Amour

Hotel Amour, Paris on a Sunday in May.

Have you ever been? If not, this is definitely one of the must-see places for your next Paris trip! It’s a very special place. In every sense.

IMG_1551!

Et voilà! The best-ever breakfast I had in Paris / France in general. They even have a terrace with a little garden (which TRUST ME can be very calming after a weekend packed with shopping, running around town and partying!). I remember that I loved the atmosphere at Hotel Amour. And the delicious croissants :-).

IMG_1555!

More Paris pics coming soon! I am so ready to go and search for new inspirations.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone!
