Obsession du jour: Hats

I am totally obsessed with hats right now…

If you wanna mix with the cool crowd in le Marais you absolutely need to wear a hat, so there is no way I could survive Spring in Paris without having one!

The hunt for the perfect hat has officially begun!

Picture of the day: Studded chucks

Ohh well, good old chucks..never out of fashion, always comfortable (high speed relief for heel-tortured feed) and so versatile!

I totally need a pair covered up with studds! This might be a worthwhile DIY project, if only I had SOME time…

The Selby book

Todd Selby is the number one source of inspiration when it comes to creative interiors. The new media, more tasteful version of good old MTV cribs (I bet we all watched it at one point…) coveres the homes/ offices of the most coveted artists, models and creative minds like Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Erin Wasson, Oliver Zahm and Alex Wang, to name a few. Now the Selby is finally releasing a book:

It contains over 30 profiles, accompanied by Todd’s famous watercolor portraits and small interviews, of which most have not been published before on the Selby site. The book is launching on April 1st, but there will be an exclusive pre-sale chez Colette this week, with lots of cool events ranging from Karaoke, to interior consultation and the possibility to get a portrait of your pet.

So, guess where I will be heading today to get my version of the book…?

I just love Todd’s eye for small, random details and his artsy/crazy motives.

Glamour Market

Home sweet home

Here is an absolutely directional editorial for the new season which I (surprisingly) stumbled upon in the February issue of French Glamour. Now don’t get me wrong here: Glamour is fine and all that! Just usually very commercial and not the kind of material I get inspired by. This editorial, however, sums up everything I need for S/S 10: a laid-back 70′s attitude mixed with some good old Hollywood glam and a doze of rock’n roll to spice it up. Yummie! Think oversized 70′s sunnies, denim shorts, floral prints, lots of MUSTARD shades and platform wedge heels.

Le vrai military

Leave it to Carine & Co to push the limits of aesthetics…Among the recent overflow of too pretty, military inspired editorials, this is the first one I really like, cause it dares to be different and truely fierce.

Rag & Bone

rag&bone10

Rag & Bone has all the right ingredients for the ultimate cool gal look: chunky knits, plaids, tweed, stack-heel hiking boots and lots of layering. Especially, during these days of big freeze, I wish I had every single piece of this collection to keep me warm and still incredibly stylish.

I just love all the small, well conceived details in the collection!

Alexa’s style diary

alexacheung3

Alexa Chung is one of our favourite it-girls and always a source of inspiration when it comes to quirky and creative dressing. Now, thanks to Vogue UK, we have the possibility to follow Alexa’s style choices every day for a whole month. Unfortunatelly, the quality of the pics is not the best, yet they offer us a little glimpse into Alexa’s daily fashion choices. We wanna see more of that!

How to pull off Sonia Rykiel Lingerie

Elin Kling in a Sonia Rykiel corsage

To be honest I wasn’t too thrilled with the Sonia Rykiel for H&M-collection. I thought the designs were cute but not wearable and realized in poor quality (okay, that was expected! I mean, we’re talking H&M here…). But above all: I wouldn’t know when or where to wear those sexy pieces! Romantic date with the boyfriend? C’MON! I am a busy single gal in a big city. I don’t DO romantic boyfriend dates! When I entered the store on Saturday, my first impression was only confirmed by a mass of giant-looking bulky bras and matching panties (the sad leftovers I guess), all baggy and kind of shape-less. I couldn’t even get myself to try ONE piece.

But then my friend Nina tells me “No, no! I want this lace-thing. It’s perfect!”. Mmmhhh… (where would Nina wear this?). So yesterday I stumpled upon this picture of the gorgeous Elin Kling wearing her Sonia Rykiel for H&M-corsage with a matching lace cardigan (H&M too!), black leggings and a Chanel 2.55. That’s it! FABULOUS! Perfect party-outfit! Sigh. Swedish girls do it better, no;-)?

Now that I know how to pull it off it’s probably sold-out. Classic!
