Little White Dress

It’s not at all easy to find that perfect LWD (Little White Dress)…you know, the one to wear during hot summer days, but which you could also easily pair up with tights and a parka for cold times!

So last weekend in Berlin I finally found  THE one LWD from Sandro at Galeries Lafayette. It has the perfect length, a cute zipper at the back and beautiful lace details (and we love white lace this summer!!)

Take some inspirations from favourite blogger Elin on how to style the LWD:

mini and maxi bag cynthia smith vogue us

The principle of Mix & Match – my most important style credo btw – got a whole new meaning when I came across Cynthia Smith‘s nonchalant way of pairing a mini & maxi bag for the  ‘Five days, Five looks, One Girl’ feature on vogue.com (if you’re not familiar with the series, make sure you check it out here!). And since the Voguista’s mint-green mini Chanel and two-tone Céline shopper make such a stylish pair, I’ve decided to put together a couple of suggestions on how to mix XS and XL bags:

Absolutely LOVE the pop-hued mini version of Lanvin’s iconic ‘Happy’ bag! Since it certainly doesn’t fit much of my stuff (close to nothing actually) I would complement it with an oversized classic carry-all from Mulberry. The soft, tan vintage leather leaves the floor to the rasperry pink tone.

raffia & studs

Topping my list of must-buy bags is the mini shoulder bag from Valentino’s Rockstud collection. I think it would perfectly work for the office when teamed with this raffia beach tote that easily fits my ballet flats, magazines & a bottle of Evian.

Feeling very drawn to the wristlet trend lately. This black leather Alaia model could be pinched straight from the Olsen Twins’ closets. And since it’s a little too precious to be limited to after-dark occasions, the Kate Mouse print tote bag with black leather straps (exclusive to Liberty!) makes a nice & roomy addition. And we know there’s only one Kate in London, right;-)?

New York Fashion Week: The Essentials

3-sylvana-ward-durrett_nyfw essentials

New York Fashion Week has officially started! Feeling really inspired by Vogue.com‘s impressive line-up of ‘key players’ (including everyone from the designers to the models to the nightlife kings) sharing their fashion week essentials in a beautifully photographed story by The Coveteur.

I’m very much into a suede pump these days, and this hot-pink pair from Manolo Blahnik amps up any look—and they’re comfortable.’

Right now, I just wish/hope/pray I’ll be saying the exact same sentence one sweet day (except for my Chanel has to be tomato red! Ha ha!)

I needed something that could fit invitations, stacks of WWDs, a notebook, perhaps an iPad, and, quite possibly, an extra pair of shoes. Alber Elbaz to the rescue!’

This time of year, it really helps to have a nice, warm coat to run around the city and I recently found this amazing cashmere Céline in baby blue. It has big pockets that hold my cell phone.’

The weekend fantasy shop-in

weekend wishlist_October

Am being modest as ever when it comes to my wishlist for weekend shopping:-). Sought-after pieces include Céline, YSL and some Isabel Marant – I could atually use her whole collection! But I am focussing on some great basics instead. Here’s what:

1. On top of my list is this amazing two-toned Céline shopper. It’s simple, pure, practical and still incredibly chic. Need that!

2. I need RED Repettos for walking around during the day

3. And some spectacular, chunky-heeled YSL suede wedges that goes with black opaques as well (cause it’s about time to drag these out again!)

4. My favourite lace piece is this Paul & Joe mini skirt which I will pull up onto my waist

5. and eventually tuck a simple wool sweater into. This Isabel Marant one has the perfect cut with accentuated shoulders and slim fit.

6. A splash of color on my nails brightens up my day. It’s silly – but works! Chanel has the best red shades.

7. Last but not least I am still on my Parisian high and that’s why I need a cool fedora ASAP. Found this brand through ELLE UK.

7 things, that’s it! May birthday come soon!

Weekend cravings: Nude & Red

Weekend WishList Nude & Red

It’s Friday! FINALLY. Here’s my fantasy shopping list for the weekend (on which I was supposed to go to the Locarno film festival but had to cancel because of the disastrous weather forecast!).

Nude tones spiced up with a bright red are my favourite right now even though I couldn’t get myself to try on the Isabel Marant-ish leather pants. They are cool but not for me. I would go for the Céline box bag in chilli red instead:-). Since pointy shoes are making a comeback, the Louboutin ‘Pigalles’ will be a safe investment for fall. Oh and I have to look out for this Aurélie Bidermann ring. Right now, she is the most talented jewelry designer around.

Now looking forward to spend some quality time with my dearest sister.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Vintage treasure: Céline clutch

vintage celine clutch

May I introduce you to one of my biggest closet treasures? This beautiful beige Céline clutch is an original from the 70′s and luckily found its way into my closet:-). I own very few vintage pieces but the few ones are truly loved! If you should be in Paris anytime soon, try Kiliwatch! They have a great selection of stuff from past decades at affordable prices – even the French Voguettes shop there!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Polished perfection: Hermès ‘Constance’

jakandjil

Bye bye slouchy bags! The new shape for bags is small and square with a long strap and ‘retro-feel’. While everyone else seems to go crazy about Celine’s Heritage model I’d rather take that money straight to Hermès. Not exactly an understatement accessory, the classic ‘Constance’ does offer a prestige that is priceless. Plus we probably won’t get tired of it all too soon as Hermès bags always stay refreshingly fad-resistant!

anastasia barbieri

Anastasia Barbieri featured the Hermès Constance in one of my all-time favourite editorials in Vogue. Très Parisienne! What do you think, Nat?

Birking Watcher

I love how it perfectly matches elegant and simple outfits in soft tones. Quite my bag;-)!

anna dello russo

Oh oh and even Anna wears it! Right there, that’s the proof! It IS a must-have accessory for the global best dressed (see where I’m aiming at? Ha ha!). No I just have to figure out a financial plan (crisis, crisis!) and then this will be my door-opener for Paris Fashion Week. Better than paper tickets. Definitely!
