Tatouage blue

heidimount

This picture by Jak & Jil is definitely today’s highlight! I like how it all blends together: Heidi Mount’s dark make-up, the pattern of her Alexander Wang romper, the pops of blue in the background and the tattoo like arm painting kept from the Rodarte show. Speaking of which, Kate and Laura once again managed to create a truely fantastic collection with an incredible mix of materials, lots of deconstruction and an “out-of-this-world” vibe. Check out the pictures of their collection here.

subtrend: aviator chic

Aviator Chic

The first impressions of the new Alexander Wang collection for Spring 2010 really surprised me: here I had  expected yet another grunge inspired collection with lots of black leather and sexy denim. However, Alex turned to a more sporty theme, without compromising his usual sexiness, though. Inspired by his collaboration with the GAP earlier this year, he stayed true to the all-American sportswear spirit. He used lots of khaki and grey, red and white rugby stripes and brown leather, all spiced up with some pretty hot leopard peep toe booties. There was one particular elemenent of his collection, which immediately caught my attention: aviator inspired pieces like an aviator cap, a great jacket and little applications all in caramel-brown leather.

I always had a thing for the aviator look, so I started thinking of how to work the look for the upcoming season already…

Shopped the closet

Vintage velvet jacket

VINTAGE TREASURE! It really just took me a few stitches to make this beautiful uniform jacket fit my shoulders. It’s an original from the 80′s so of course it has shoulder pads (but they were different back then)! Paired with my favourite pair of slashed skinnies and the new killer-heels it is likely to become one of my favorite fall outfits.

Blinded by Balmain…

toni

German top model and natural beauty Toni Garn photographed by Knoepfel and Indlekofer for the September issue of German Vogue.

On this shot she is wearing this season’s IT piece and Les Coupines’ FAVOURITE: the sequined, striped sweater with sharp shoulders. Decarnain manages to combine three key trends in one single piece without overdoing it. Unfortunately, this Balmain piece is well out of our reach, but we love the alternative by French brand Sandro.

See the rest of Toni’s editorial here.

Saturday night in Paris

Going out in Paris

We took a few shots before going out in St. Germain (where else?) on Saturday night. I really had no time to come up with any sophisticated-Paris-worthy-bohemian-style-surprises so I just threw on this dress (it actually has a really cool MARNI-ish zipper in the back!) and my new heels and off we were.

Garance at he Sartorialist book signing

Saturday, 5th September, 4:30 p.m. at Colette Paris.

Crowds of young Parisians and international followers of the Sartorialist are queuing outside the famous concept store to get their copy of THE BOOK signed by Scott Schuman himself. It is almost impossible to enter the store and one could easily assume that some popstar came down to shake hands and give autographs. And there, in the middle of flashing cameras, excited fans, the hardworking Colette-staff and next to a very busy Scott, she sits shining and smiling gracefully: GARANCE DORÉ.

Off to Paris

La Parisienne

Leaving for Paris tomorrow morning! Yes, yes, yes!!! Oui, oui, oui!!! I am actually going to visit my friend Melina, a true Parisienne (even though she claims that she’s not!). BTW this picture was taken by the Sartorialist in the streets of Paris (one of his greatest shots in my opinion) and everytime I look at it it just makes me smile cause it’s an amazing portrait of the all-Parisienne-girl. Classic cuts, discreet colors, vintage Dior Lady bag, undone hair and smoking OF COURSE!

Will keep u all updated about whats going on in pre-fashionweek-Paris;-). Bonne nuit!

Hayashi x ACNE

Hayashi

Hayashi in Frankfurt is one of our all time favourite stores. Shop owner Kerstin has a great sense of style and always puts together a very fine selection of designer brands. So I was thrilled to be invited to a little fashion show hosted by Hayashi in cooperation with Acne.

Sundowner

Lakeside

Just came back from a short trip to my favourite spot in the world: Lago Maggiore (a.k.a. THE lake!). Its mediterranean flair and the good old 70′s-glam that has somehow never left make this place very inspiring. Yet it is totally quiet and relaxing unlike other lakes in Northern Italy. My sis and I decided to take some shots right before sundown trying to catch the gloaming light:

Do you know Kasia?

kasia smutniak

KASIA SMUTNIAK is the face of Armani’s new fragrance IDOLE d’ ARMANI. Just another blonde model from Eastern Europe who landed a fragrance campaign? Certainly more than that! In the current French VOGUE issue she shows us how to pull off a red Armani-leather blazer (used to be on top of my personal list of pieces that can never possibly look good on anyone!): Mix it with a simple Acne tee plus vintage jeans & jewelry et VOILÀ!

Black ‘n Blues

Ruffled top

This ruffled top is definitely one of my summer favourites. It has some kind of extravaganza to it that makes all of my dull basics (old skinnies in this case) instantly look fashionable. Could use more of that…ha, ha.

Ticket to Paris

Ticket to Paris

I finally got my tickets for Paris this fall (one’s for Fashion Week!) and I can’t wait to get on that train. Since my personal fashion summer had been rather american-ized (with lots of cropped denim and casual tees), this fall will be all about the French Chic! The MAGNIFIQUE Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and her effortlessly elegant, sexy way of dressing inspired me to list a few “Paris basics”.
