Summer lace & fall shoes

Lace shoes and dress

It’s actually fun to mix summer wardrobe staples with NEW SEASON pieces. And it usually makes for an unexpected, cool outfit that feels fresh while giving you the confidence that only well worn-in things can give. I love how my sister paired her new budapester brogues, which she got here in Italy, with a white lace dress (recalling an Isabel Marant lace number that sold out way too fast!) and classic Wayfarers.

budapester lace-up shoes I think that classic brogues look especially cute on small feet:-). Sarah found these in the most random store here at the lake.

Rediscovered: silk shirts

Jewelry editorial Vogue Paris July 2010

One of the most versatile and simple pieces to wear right now is definitely a powder toned chemise en soie. To me, silk shirts are the surprise hit of the season yet totally season-less.

For the très Parisiènne look wear it all buttoned up with fine gold jewelry and a vintage belt (this one’s from Kiliwatch, Nati’s favourite vintage destination!).

Jewelry editorial Vogue Paris II

A classic silk blouse will soften summer’s utility trend (perfect with khaki shorts!) and solve any pre-fall outfit dilemma while it leaves the floor to statement accessories and fine jewelry. The best brand? Equipment offers classic-cut silk blouses in creamy white or powdery beige at a reasonable price point.

Summer in the City, Paris The Sartorialist

Very ‘summer in the city-ish’! The soft shade enhances a summer tan (working on mine right now!) and looks completely effortless when left unbuttoned.

Berlin Day 2

Berlin outfit of the day

Berlin Fashion Week day 2 outfit. My lovely co-worker took this picture of me this morning right before we headed out to see the first show (Schumacher). I am wearing a night blue Prada shirt all buttoned up with a swirly Isabel Marant Étoile print skirt. Oh and I just got these Chlóe sandals on sale a couple of days ago and am so in love! Their shape is completely retro – the kind of retro that is still a bit ahead of its time! Will try for a closer pic later.

Here to stay

IMG_1544!

Wohooo!!! I just found out that my dearest Coupine will stay in Paris and decided this was totally post-worthy! I guess it’s really important to find a place in the world where you just “fit in”. Not only style-wise or socially. But above all it is about finding a place that inspires you and that can give you energy. And the opportunities to get closer to your dreams;-). I feel like Paris can be all that for Nati. Soo happy!

the hat

I had already told you about my hat obsession earlier…and indeed I have been buying and wearing lots of hats lately…can’t do in Paris without one!! I have been meaning to post this “hat outfit” for really long:

IMG_1507!

This is one of my favourite hats. Technically, its not even mine, but I “stole” it from my friend Isa. It’s Vintage and we bought it together chez Episode on Rue Tiquetonne.

Rest of the outfit: Zara shorts and blazer, Isabel Marant plaid tunic, Zadig&Voltaire scarf, Chloe Elsie bag.

Polished perfection: Hermès ‘Constance’

jakandjil

Bye bye slouchy bags! The new shape for bags is small and square with a long strap and ‘retro-feel’. While everyone else seems to go crazy about Celine’s Heritage model I’d rather take that money straight to Hermès. Not exactly an understatement accessory, the classic ‘Constance’ does offer a prestige that is priceless. Plus we probably won’t get tired of it all too soon as Hermès bags always stay refreshingly fad-resistant!

anastasia barbieri

Anastasia Barbieri featured the Hermès Constance in one of my all-time favourite editorials in Vogue. Très Parisienne! What do you think, Nat?

Birking Watcher

I love how it perfectly matches elegant and simple outfits in soft tones. Quite my bag;-)!

anna dello russo

Oh oh and even Anna wears it! Right there, that’s the proof! It IS a must-have accessory for the global best dressed (see where I’m aiming at? Ha ha!). No I just have to figure out a financial plan (crisis, crisis!) and then this will be my door-opener for Paris Fashion Week. Better than paper tickets. Definitely!

Dresscode: Regatta

I just came back from my school’s amazing regatta, which took place this weekend on Capri.

Voila, a little selection of my ideal regatta wardrobe (I meant to post this earlier, but the pre-departure got a bit stressful…)

regatta

1. THE essential for each sailing trip is a stripped shirt. This one is by American Vintage, but usually Petit Bateau has some great ones too or just try to go Vintage.

2. Brioni Lurex-knit shorts via net-a-porter. You could just not go to Capri without adding a touch of Missoni glam to your beachwear!

3. Kody leather wedge sandals by Juicy Couture via net-a-porter.

4. Another classic: the espadrille. The Gap has some great ones this summer!

5. Howlite multi-strap drop earings via net-a-porter. Spice up each summer outfit with Isabel Marant’s boho-chic jewelry pieces.

6. Ray-ban wayfarers in red. The Italians just love it!!

7. Panama hat. Just take inspirations from Diane on how to style it!

8. DFV Omaya cutout tunic via net-a-porter. The right choice for the insane white party held at Villa Marina Hotel in Capri.

9./10. As for the beauty essentials: Make sure to have (at least) a little tan, which you could boost with Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Healthy Bronze, and go for bright, orange/red nailpolish. Les Coupines’ favourite for this summer: Monsooner or later by OPI!

I will post some pics of this great trip very very soon!
xx Nati

I found you!

CIMG1591

I finally found the YSL arty ring, which I have been craving for soooo long!

After being sold out forever, it miraculously resurfaced in Paris…in my favourite colour and in my size!!! So although it is technically last season (ok with YSL, there can never really be a “last season”), I had to get it immediately. This is gonna be my very favourite summer accessory, next to this oh-so Parisian Vintage scarf, I got a Kiliwatch this weekend.

Met Gala 2010

The Met Gala is definitely one of the hottest and most covetted red carpet events of the year. Without doubt, there were lots of beautiful ball gowns, but I’m mostly intrigued by the more daring and unexpected looks. Voila, my very personal favourites:

Chloe Sevigny in a sublime Proenza Schouler frock

Alexa Chung rocking a Phillip Lim tuxedo

Charlotte Kemp Muhl + Sean Lennon (aka hottest couple in town) and Sasha Pivovarova, all übercool in Marni

Charlotte Gainsbourg in Balenciaga

and Les Coupines’ darling Emma Watson in a custom Burberry dress

RED

Usually, I’m more the “pink kind of girl“…but lately I realized that I might be even more drawn to red…its all in the details:

IMG_0937

Red Timex watch, bought at chez Maman in Paris (coolest watch shop ever!!!)…

IMG_0938

O.P.I. big apple red (I’m wearing it non-stop)…

IMG_0939

Marc Jacobs lipstick pen, my most stylish school accessory (seriously, I get lots of compliments about it, it even grasps the attention of the teachers…haha)

IMG_0898

…and finally my beloved Prego bikerboots with the red zipper at the back…

Red is my new pink ;-) !!

a walk in the park…

It is such a beautiful weather here in Paris, so I decided to go for a stroll in the lovely park next to my place…

IMG_1034

I wore my new Parka for the first time and tried to strike some serious military like poses for the pics… well I guess I ended up more like making a fool of myself infront of the Parisian families of my quartier

Top 10 fashion regrets

There’s a section inside Topshop with all the single pieces and it’s called “Buy it now – or regret it later”. I believe that this was invented specifically for me (and all girls like me). I have fashion regrets all the time! Everyday. Every season. I tend to either like the stuff of next season (which I can’t get my hands on) OR of past seasons. From a retrospective it suddenly all makes sense to me and I know exactly which pieces were worth buying (lasting power!) while I am totally overstrained with figuring out what I should get for the CURRENT season. Then I get obsessed with last season’s highlights and will try to source them from literally EVERYWHERE (Yoox, vintage stores, friends, ebay…). I decided to share a “best of” of my fashion regrets with you (AND I WANNA KNOW ABOUT YOURS, LADIES!):

ysl muse 2

1. The Yves Saint Laurent Muse 2 in BLUE!!! By far my biggest regret and top of that my colleague has it! So I am basically tortured everyday…

Marni fall 2007 wedges

2. The Marni wedges from F/W 2007 are still incredibly hot. I found them in a bronze patent leather version but finally decided it just wasn’t the same thing…Lucky Jane!

prada runway belt

3. The Prada belt from the F/W 2009 runway show is just too perfect for any kind of belted outfit (dress, cardi, coat, ANYTHING!). Black is still available but I want brown. Of course…

Bags: Alexa on the rise

mulberry alexa bag

Talking about bags: Mulberry‘s latest coup is called “Alexa” (named after noone lesser than fashion’s favourite girl Alexa Chung) and recalls some retro school bag-chic. To be honest, me and Alexa (referring to the bag here) wasn’t love at first sight. I thought it was pretty lame actually. But then I spotted it on one of the interns in my uber-chic office and changed my mind:-). Now I’d literally die to have one but of course Alexa is sold out EVERYWHERE. Well except for the yellow version which I stumpled upon at Heathrow airport (the only thing that saved me from splurging on a YELLOW bag was my closing gate! Thank God!). Despite a slight little confusion at times my heart is set on the oak buffalo-leather version. What do u think, fellow bag-lovers?

at Dior: fooling around

Apart from stalking fashion people at the Dior show, I also had lots of fun fooling around in sunny Jardin des Tuileries. This was mostly due to the totaly lovely baloon dog, which the Grazia team distributed in front of the show…
